The 2003 Ford Taurus and Dale Jarrett

Dale Arnold Jarrett was born on November 26, 1956, in Conover, North Carolina, and comes from a racing family.
His father Ned Jarrett was a two-time Grand National champion, and just like his brother Glenn, his cousin Todd and his son Jason, the oval defined Dale Jarrett’s life.

His racing career began in 1977 at Hickory Motor Speedway, which was owned by his father. In his first race, Jarrett started from the back of the field and managed to finish in ninth place. He raced in the Limited Sportsman Division at Hickory before moving up to the NASCAR Busch Series.

Dale Jarrett won his first Winston Cup race in 1991 at Michigan International Speedway, driving for the Wood Brothers. The following season he moved to Joe Gibbs Racing and drove the green Interstate Batteries Chevy with the number 18.

A year later, he won the “Dale and Dale Show” at the Daytona 500 and took the checkered flag in the “Great American Race.”
After a break due to illness, Jarrett returned to the Cup Series in 1999 and secured the championship title at the end of the year.

Since 2008, Dale Jarrett has provided commentary for ESPN’s broadcasts of NASCAR Cup races. In 2014, Dale Jarrett was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
