Kyle Eugene Petty (born June 2, 1960, in Randleman, North Carolina) is a race car driver in the American NASCAR series. He is the son of the “King,” racing legend Richard Petty, and the grandson of Lee Petty.

He got into racing at a young age and made his major league debut at 18 at the 1979 Daytona ARCA 200, which he won right away as the youngest stock car driver ever to do so. Later that season he made his Winston Cup debut in the #42 STP Dodge Magnum for his family’s team. He took over car number 42 from his famous grandfather Lee Petty. Besides the 42, Kyle Petty drove his father’s #43, the #44, and the #45 in some races, and later the #7 with primary sponsor 7-Eleven. Most recently he drove the #45 Dodge Charger for Petty Enterprises. For several years now, Kyle Petty has worked primarily as a TV commentator for motorsports coverage.

The Model Kit

This truly beautiful model kit from Revell Monogram, released in 1997, is a Pontiac Grand Prix. The “Hot Wheels” design is sure to make the hearts of more than just little Hot Wheels racers beat faster. Kyle Petty ran it in 1997, the season of his 500th Cup start.
For collectors, this “Hot Wheels” kit is also available as a strictly limited edition in the exclusive tin box.

This Pontiac body style was used from 1996 to 2003. At the end of the 2003 season, Pontiac withdrew from NASCAR’s Cup series.

Revell introduced the first version of this body for the 1997 season and produced the corresponding Pontiac Grand Prix model kits, each with slight facelifts, up to this final edition in 2002.

It is one of the few bodies that, under the NASCAR124 rules, may be sanded out if the kit is to be built into a slot racing car. This allows for optimal weight distribution.

The 93 parts are molded in white and clear. Black Goodyear vinyl tires are included.

A very nice model for the display case, or for building a high-performance slot car according to the Sakatsu / Thunder rules.

Notice

This model kit is not a children’s toy!
It contains small parts that can easily be swallowed. Never leave children under 10 years of age unattended with a model kit like this!

Please note that the included decals may be brittle due to their age. If you want to use them, be sure to pre-treat the decals before soaking them in water and coat them with a suitable film!
I accept no liability whatsoever for the fit, condition, or functionality of the decals!
