Kyle Petty
Kyle Eugene Petty (born June 2, 1960, in Randleman, North Carolina) is a race car driver in the American NASCAR series. He is the son of “The King,” racing legend Richard Petty, and the grandson of Lee Petty.
He entered racing at a young age and made his major league debut at 18 at the 1979 Daytona ARCA 200, which he won right away as the youngest stock car driver to do so. Later that season he made his debut in the Winston Cup Series in the #42 STP Dodge Magnum for his family’s team. He took over the number 42 from his famous grandfather Lee Petty. Besides the 42, Kyle Petty drove his father’s #43 in a few races, as well as the #44, the #45 and later, with primary sponsor 7-Eleven, the #7. Most recently he drove the #45 Dodge Charger for Petty Enterprises. For several years now, Kyle Petty has worked primarily as a TV commentator for motorsport broadcasts.
