The 1997 Ford Thunderbird and Jeff Burton
This “Exide Batteries” Ford Thunderbird is the winning car of Jeff Burton. With it, “The Mayor” won the first-ever “Interstate Batteries 500” at Texas Motor Speedway.

That weekend, it rained buckets and a large part of the spectator parking lots was flooded. The race was in serious danger of being washed out.
Track owner Eddie Gossage pulled some strings and managed to have an entire section of Interstate 35 closed and “repurposed” as a parking lot.
Because of the traffic chaos, the helicopter carrying pianist Van Cliburn could not land in time, so the national anthem was not played by him but improvised instead.
Already on the first lap of the race there was a “big one” involving 13 cars. The race was destined to go down in the history of Texas Motor Speedway. With a total of ten caution periods and 73 laps under yellow, this record still stands in Texas today…
Jeff Burton took the lead later in the race and held it for 58 laps until his win. Dale Jarrett finished second, followed by Bobby Labonte, Terry Labonte and Ricky Rudd.

The Model Kit
This 1997 model kit from Revell is a Ford Thunderbird.
The kit is molded in white with clear and chrome-plated parts and includes a complete decal sheet “Exide Batteries” as well as a limited-edition glossy photo of Jeff Burton.
The car is painted in two colors, which makes the assembly quite straightforward overall. This Ford Thunderbird from Revell fits perfectly into the NASCAR 124 rules.
Notice
This model kit is not a toy for children!
It contains small parts that can easily be swallowed. Never leave children under 10 years of age unattended with a model kit like this!
Please note that, due to their age, the included decals may be brittle. If you want to use them, you should definitely pre-treat the decals before soaking them in water and coat them with a suitable film!
I do not accept any liability for the fit, condition or functionality of the decals!
