Felix Sabates’ TEAM SABCO Racing Team had Peak Antifreeze as its primary sponsor in 1989-1990. During that time, the automotive supplier and chemical producer Old World Industries (OWI) also served as title sponsor of the fall race at Dover, the “Peak Antifreeze 500.”

Kyle Petty

Kyle Eugene Petty (born June 2, 1960, in Randleman, North Carolina) is a race car driver in the American NASCAR series. He is the son of the “King,” racing legend Richard Petty, and the grandson of Lee Petty.

He got into racing at a young age and made his major league debut at 18 at the 1979 Daytona ARCA 200, which he won right away as the youngest stock car driver ever to do so. Later that season, he made his Winston Cup debut in the #42 STP Dodge Magnum for his family’s team. He took over the number 42 from his famous grandfather Lee Petty. Besides the 42, Kyle Petty drove his father’s #43, the #44, and the #45 in some races, and later the #7 with 7-Eleven as primary sponsor. Most recently, he drove the #45 Dodge Charger for Petty Enterprises.

For several years now, Kyle Petty has worked primarily as a TV commentator for motorsports coverage.

The Model Kit

This 1989 Monogram model kit is a Pontiac Grand Prix with the original “letterbox” nose.

If you want to build a truly high-performing slot car under the NASCAR124 rules, the 1989 to 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix is an excellent choice. It features a very low center of gravity and a very wide track, so the maximum allowed width can be built without any problems.

Combined with the Sakatsu or Thunder chassis, the minimum weight of 210 grams can be hit almost exactly, without having to compromise on details or paint. A real insider tip…

The kit parts are white, with clear and chrome-plated pieces.

Notice

This model kit is not a children’s toy!
It contains small parts that can easily be swallowed. Never leave children under 10 years of age unsupervised with a model kit like this!

Please note that the included decals may be brittle due to their age. If you want to use them, you should pre-treat the decals before soaking them and coat them with a suitable film!
I do not provide any warranty for the fit, condition, or functionality of the decals!
