The 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix and Hut Stricklin
Waymond Lane “Hut” Stricklin grew up in Calera, Alabama. He married Pam Allison, the daughter of NASCAR legend Donnie Allison, after they were set up by Pam’s cousin Davey. He was the last member of the Alabama Gang.

After winning the NASCAR Dash Series championship in 1987, Hut Stricklin began his Winston Cup career. In 1990 he finished the season second behind Dick Trickle in the NASCAR Rookie of the Year standings.
Pontiac introduced the fifth generation of the Grand Prix to the market in 1987. The sleek W-body coupe, front-wheel drive for the first time, thrilled buyers, not least because of its technical refinements and its aerodynamic wedge shape. The excellent aerodynamics gave the Grand Prix wings on the NASCAR ovals as well.
The Model Kit
This Monogram model kit from 1990 is a Pontiac Grand Prix.
The kit is molded in red with clear and chrome-plated parts and includes a complete “Heinz Tomato Ketchup” decal sheet.
Also included are a driver figure and various pit accessories!
The car is painted in a single color, so assembly is quite straightforward overall. This Pontiac Grand Prix from Monogram fits perfectly into the NASCAR 124 rules and (because of the overlapping model years) into the NASCAR Grayside rules.
