After the Sabco Racing Team’s design first appeared in the movie “Days of Thunder,” it went on to become a real race car in the NASCAR series. With Mello Yello as the primary sponsor, Kyle Petty drove the Grand Prix full-time.

Kyle Petty

Kyle Eugene Petty (born June 2, 1960, in Randleman, North Carolina) is a race car driver in the American NASCAR series. He is the son of “The King,” racing legend Richard Petty, and the grandson of Lee Petty.

He got into racing at a young age and made his major league debut at 18 at the 1979 Daytona ARCA 200, which he won right away as the youngest stock car driver to do so. Later that season he made his debut in the Winston Cup Series in the #42 STP Dodge Magnum for his family’s team. He took over the number 42 from his famous grandfather Lee Petty. Besides the 42, Kyle Petty drove his father’s #43 in some races, as well as the #44, the #45, and later, with primary sponsor 7-Eleven, the #7. Most recently he drove the #45 Dodge Charger for Petty Enterprises.

For several years now, Kyle Petty has worked primarily as a TV commentator for motorsports coverage.

The Model Kit

This 1991 Monogram model kit is a Pontiac Grand Prix with the slightly lower grille opening typical of the facelift, compared to the earlier so-called “mail slots.”
If you want to build a truly high-performing slot car under the NASCAR124 rules, the 1990 and 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix are an excellent choice. They feature a very low center of gravity and a very wide track, so the maximum allowed width can be built without any problems. Together with the Sakatsu or Thunder chassis, the minimum weight of 210 grams can be reached almost exactly, without having to compromise on details or paint. A real insider tip…

Notice

This model kit is not a children’s toy!
It contains small parts that can easily be swallowed. Never leave children under 10 years of age unattended with a model kit like this!

Please note that the included decals may be brittle due to their age. If you want to use them, you should definitely pre-treat the decals before soaking them and cover them with a suitable film!
I do not provide any warranty for the fit, condition, or functionality of the decals!
