Alan Kulwicki

Alan Dennis Kulwicki (December 14, 1954 – April 1, 1993), also known as “Special K” or the “Polish Prince,” became the Winston Cup Series champion in 1992. He won the hearts of fans in 1986 when he entered the Cup series with no sponsor, a very tight budget, just one race car, and a borrowed pickup truck. Even so, he managed to be named “Rookie of the Year” in his first season.
After his first win at Phoenix International Raceway, Kulwicki did something that not only became his trademark but was later adopted by nearly all other drivers: the “Polish Victory Lap,” in which the winner drives clockwise past the grandstands, i.e., against the actual direction of racing.
Alan Kulwicki died in 1993 in a plane crash that also claimed the lives of several other people from the racing world.
The Model Kit
This 1990 Monogram model kit is a Ford Thunderbird. This T-Bird body style, with only a few facelifts, was used very successfully in NASCAR stock car racing until 1997, before the Thunderbird was replaced by the Ford Taurus in 1998. Thunderbirds regularly broke the 200 mph mark in races and reached speeds of up to 212 mph (approx. 341 km/h).
The parts are molded in white and clear plastic. Black Goodyear vinyl tires are included.
The highlights of this kit are the included driver figure and pit/garage equipment such as a jack, tool chest, gas can, impact wrench, etc.
A very nice model for your display case, or for building a high-performance slot car following the Sakatsu / Thunder rules.
Notice

It contains small parts that can easily be swallowed. Never leave children under 10 years of age unattended with a model kit like this!
Please note that, due to their age, the included decals may be brittle. If you plan to use them, be sure to pre-treat the decals and coat them with a suitable film before soaking them in water!
I do not provide any warranty for the fit, condition, or functionality of the decals!
