The 1984 Buick Regal and Bobby Allison

Buick’s first season was not until 1981, and it got off to a rocket start. Darrell Waltrip won the championship in a Buick with 12 wins and 21 top-five finishes.
The runner-up, Bobby Allison, also drove a Regal. And that wasn’t all: more Buicks showed up in the top 10. Harry Gant secured 3rd place, Terry Labonte took fourth, Ricky Rudd finished sixth, and Richard Petty (who drove a Buick only in that one season) placed 8th in the overall standings. What a start!

The 1982 season was even more successful for Buick. Darrell Waltrip again took the title as champion, followed by Bobby Allison and Terry Labonte in second and third, Harry Gant in fourth, Dave Marcis in sixth, Ron Bouchard in eighth, and finally Morgan Shepherd in tenth. Seven of the ten top-placed drivers drove a Buick!

During that racing season, Buick scored 25 individual wins, with Chevrolet “close” behind at a whopping three wins.

In 1983, the other manufacturers closed the gap a little, but still couldn’t match Buick’s success. Once again, the champion drove a Buick Regal that season: Bobby Allison.
Darrell Waltrip had switched to Chevrolet and finished second in the championship, and Harry Gant placed seventh.

In the following season, Bobby Allison also scored two individual wins for himself and Buick.

A very nice film about Bobby Allison:

The Model Kit

This Monogram model kit from 1984 is a Buick Regal.
The kit is molded in white with clear and chrome-plated parts and includes a complete “Miller” decal sheet.

The car is painted in a single color, so assembly is quite simple overall. This Monogram Buick Regal fits perfectly into the NASCAR Grayside rules.

Notice

This model kit is not a children’s toy!
It contains small parts that can easily be swallowed. Never leave children under 10 unattended with a model kit like this!

Please note that the included decals may be brittle due to their age. If you want to use them, you should definitely pre-treat the decals before soaking them in water and coat them with a suitable film!
I accept no liability whatsoever for the fit, condition, or functionality of the decals!
