The Gen-6 Chevy SS
After the Car of Tomorrow (CoT), which was rather unpopular with drivers and fans, NASCAR introduced the Generation 6 car in the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series. The design once again resembled production cars more closely, which was meant to benefit sales, and the drivers’ attitude toward the Gen-6 cars was positive across the board.
General Motors brought the Chevrolet SS to the track in the 2013 season, and after Dodge’s departure it won over additional teams. Not only Hendrick Motorsports’ Cup superstars Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne, but also the teams of Richard Childress Racing (Austin Dillon, Paul Menard, Ryan Newman), Furniture Row Racing (Martin Truex Jr.), Stewart-Haas Racing (Tony Stewart, Danica Patrick, Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch) and others continued to rely on the Chevrolet SS.
The Fiberglass Kit from BCC
The Berlin-based manufacturer BCC produces high-quality bodies made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (fiberglass) and other materials. Thanks to years of experience in model building and slot racing, the manufacturer succeeds in producing vehicles that are not only exceptionally detailed but also stable and durable under hard racing use.
For most vehicle types there are two product lines: the Classic version and the Lightweight version.
The Classic version is primarily based on the original weights of plastic model kits. It is laminated with three layers of glass fabric (approx. 160 g/sqm), achieving maximum stability.
The Lightweight version focuses on individual weight distribution and maximum performance. A high-tech fabric (approx. 68 g/sqm) is laminated with two layers and reinforced with carbon fiber rovings at critical points.
Both versions are also available in a paint-ready version for an additional charge. The body is already fully prepared (window openings cut out, edges milled, surface primed with filler and white primer), and the Lexan windows are cut out and ready to install. The body can be painted without any further preparation.
